The AJGA's 2027 Season Is Here: A Junior Golf Pathway for Families

The American Junior Golf Association, the world's leading junior golf organization, opened its 2027 season this fall with two pieces of good news: membership applications are now open at prices more than 20% more affordable, and the 2027 tournament schedule includes more than 150 events across the country. It connects directly to what we do every week at Bronze Tee Junior Golf Club, a junior golf club based in New Haven, Connecticut, where young players learn the game, develop skills, and make friends in a supportive environment that builds confidence on and off the course.

A More Affordable Path to Competitive Golf

Membership is where every AJGA journey begins. The association says the 2027 junior membership has dropped in price again and is now more than 20% more affordable than in previous years, part of an Access and Affordability Initiative that aims to bring fees back toward year-2000 levels by 2030. That matters to families who worry that competitive golf is out of reach. AJGA tournaments are open to players ages 12 to 19, and a junior can become a member even before their 12th birthday, so there is a clear calendar to aim for. Plenty of kids golf Connecticut programs, including ours, help players build the skills behind that goal years before the first AJGA tee time.

A Schedule Built for the Next Step

The 2027 schedule runs from winter through fall, with everything from open events where a rising young player can post a score to invitation-only showcases. One highlight stands out for girls and their families: The Fortinet Stanford Invitational hosted by Rose Zhang, a girls invitational for players ages 12 to 19 that tees off February 12-15, 2027 at Stanford University Golf Course. The 72-player field plays 54 holes of stroke play at the home course of Rose Zhang, a Stanford alumna and one of the LPGA's rising stars, and a young player could hardly ask for a better role model. The AJGA also announced a five-year extension of its partnership with Fortinet this fall, a commitment that expands opportunities at events like this one for years to come.

Where Bronze Tee Fits In

None of this requires a young player to jump straight into tournament golf. The foundation is the joy of the game: chipping onto the green, reading a putt, and learning to smile after a bad hole. At Bronze Tee, we meet kids where they are, whether that means a first grip at age six or a teenager practicing for a competition. Our instruction, clinics, and junior league build the fundamentals, the etiquette, and the confidence that make later steps possible. That is why so many junior golf New Haven families trust us to keep the game joyful first and competitive second.

A Few Parent Pointers

Three small habits help any family get ready for a season like this. First, know the ages: AJGA competition begins at 12, and there is no rush for younger siblings to do anything but play and have fun. Second, keep practice short and playful for younger kids, and let teens set their own pace. Third, watch junior golf together. The Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship crowns its Boys champion this week on Golf Channel, and there is no better family conversation starter than a young player pointing at the screen and dreaming out loud.

The AJGA's 2027 season is one more sign of how far junior golf has grown.
